Units calculated for measuring unique visitors are often approximations. Websites measure their unique visitors through their IP address information detected in log files and cookies.

Nevertheless, several aspects may alter outcomes. Traffic rating firms ordinarily measure unique visitors by observing the exact usage of a club of volunteers and then implementing those outcomes to the internet community. The results vary significantly for small sites because of their smaller unit sizes.
